REGULAR GARRISON.

DEFENCE OF SIERRA LEONE. (British Official Wireless). RUGBY, Dec. 20. The War Office announces that as a result of a decision taken some time ago Freetown, Sierra Leone, is again to be provided with a regular garrison in peace to man its coast defences. These will remain substantially the same as at present, though certain modifications and additions will be made to adapt them to modern requirements. An advance party recently arrived at Freetown to carry out preparatory work. The coast defence units consist of British, European and African personnel. By arrangement with the Government of Sierra Leone the recruiting and training of African personnel has commenced tinder the aegis of the Sierra Leone battalion.
