DISPUTED CLAIM.

The claim from Auckland that the time lmin. 16sec., recorded by Miss Kathleen Grey in the 110 yards women’s swim is three-fifths of a second faster than that by Miss.lslay Purdie (Dunedin) is not substantiated by the facts. >. Miss Purdie actually swam the distance, not qnly in Dunedin but also in Auckland, in a faster time than that recorded by the Aucklander. Miss Purdie’s record for 110 yards is 73sec., and she has beaten 76sec on several occasions. At Auckland in March last, Miss Purdie, who is aged 17, swam 110 yards in 73sec.
