OBITUARY.
MR W. H. FRITH
Per Press Association. OAMARU. Dec. 7.
The death occurred this morning of Mr William Henry Frith, aged 83. Deceased was born at Batley (Yorkshire) and educated at Little. Falls Academy in the United States. He came to New Zealand in 1875 ,by the ship Invercargill and arrived at Oamaru in 1876. He had been a.-metnber of the Oamaru Borough Council for over thirty years and Mayor for four years during tlie War. He . had also served for periods as a member of the Harbour Board, the Waitaki High School Board and the Waitaki Power Board. He was - president of. the North Otago Justices’ Association and had been District Coroner till recently. He had twice represented the South Island on the council of the Protestant Alliance Society. On one occasion lie contested the Oamaru seat against Hon. T. W. Hislop, but wa» defeated.
