DEMAND FOR WOOL

WELLINGTON SALE. CONTINENT BUYING. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. The demand early in the wool sale came mainly from the Continent, which was eager for all lines, but the few lots of lambs’ wool offered were not keenly competed for. The German demand came as a welcome surprise. The wool offered was aescribed by competent judges as tender and much lighter than that sent to the December sale last year, this being attributed to the sheep not having done so well this year, particularly in the Wairarapa; but it was better than the wool sent to the Napier sale, and, accordingly, commanded better values. The demand was for strong wools, and one line of such made 14d. Prices will probably prove to be a penny better than Auckland and a full half-penny or three-farthings above Napier for similar lines of wool. Japan was a spectator and the United States took small lots. Canada was believed to 'be buying. New Zealand bought sparingly. DALGETY’S REPORT.
