FINANCIAL

WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE. YESTERDAY’S - BUSINESS AND PRICES. General ■weakness was the outstanding feature of the - Wellington stock •and share markets yesterday, price declines being recorded in practically every section. Little interest was shown in Government loans, and there was no inquiry for some classes of shares, the demand in other sections being dull and listless. Bank issues shared the general weakness except New Zealand, which were steady ' at 44s 4d, sellers 44s Bd. Union sold at £9 4s, a drop of 3s 6d, and New South Wales had unsupported buyers in at £32. Pastoral and financial issues were not wanted, with the exception of N.Z. Guarantee Corporation, which sold at 4s Bd. Australian metal company shares weakened in sympathy with the London base metals market. The following table compares the prices of these shares yesterday with those ruling last March:

"Buyers. tSellers. Mount Lyell touched a low level in sales at 30s lOd, hut recovered to 32s 3d. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
