Mrs T. Keeling and Miss M. Nathan, of Palmerston North, have left for Wellington to attend the GriffithsHanlon ivedding. Staying with her daughter, Mrs H. W. Hunt, of Fitzherbert West,, is Mrs M. D. Mudford, of “Clovelly,” Glen Oroua.
Miss J. Whyte, who has been visiting her aunt, Miss R. Whyte, of Palmerston North, left yesterday for Wellington, en route to Sydney. She will bo farewelled by her aunt, who joins her iii Wellington to-day.
A pioneer resident of Auckland, Mrs J. F. Colegrove, of Arney Road, Reinuera, celebrated the 50th anniversary of her arrival in New Zealand by entertaining a large circle of her friends at a party on Tuesday afternoon. Ms Colegrove, who before her marriage was Miss Mehta Josephine Binks, sailed from England by the Rimutaka in November, 1887, to join her mother and stepfather at Helyer’s Creek, a bay past Hobsonville. Her stepfather, the late Mr William Dawson, was a well-known civil engineer. Bowls of sweet peas were attractively arranged on the tables for the party, and songs by Miss Nancye Hanna, pianoforte solos by Mrs H. Gee, and instrumental items by the Milne and Choyce trio all added to the enjoyment of the occasion. A brief speech of congratulation to Mrs Colegrove was made by the Mayoress, Lady Davis, to winch the hostess briefly replied. ,
