CLOSER UNDERSTANDING.
MR CHAMBERLAIN’ S STATEMENT
Received November 25, 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 24. Mr Neville Chamberlain, Prime Minister, told the House of Commons that he was satisfied Lord Halifax’s visit to Germany had been valuable and had furthered the desire of both countries for a closer mutual understanding. The conversations were confidential and the House could not expect a further statement, but no pledges were given. Mr Chamberlain added that France at present, had not been informed ot the details of the conversations, speculations on which were in-espon-sible and highly inaccurate. It was understood the conversations with Germany will at present remain confidential.
