ENGLAND AND SWEDEN
PERFECT UNDERSTANDING. MINISTERS IN AGREEMENT. SOCIETY’S DINNER.
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received November 25, 10.35 a.m. RUGBY, Nov. 24. The Swedish Minister, Baron Palmstierna, who is retiring at the end of the year, was the guest of honour at the annual dinner of the AngloSwedish Society. Sir Samuel Hoare, president of the society, said that Baron Palmstierna had interpreted Sweden to England and England to Sweden in such a way that there were no two countries in Europe that understood each other better.
Baron Palmstierna, replying, said: “This England, this peace-demanding democracy and home for freedom of spiritj inspires in all who settle down in this green pleasant land a love which grows with the years and which carries us to a stage where we feel we cannot tear ourselves away.”
