SPANISH CONFLICT.
NO ARMISTICE PROSPECTS. BARCELONA, Nov. 23. There will be no mediation and there is no prospect of an armistice in the Spanish conflict, according to a statement by the Press Department of the Council of Ministers. ‘ AGENTS APPOINTED. SALAMANCA, Nov. 23. It is officially announced that the Duke of Alba will be General Franco’s agent in Jxmdon. Sir Robert Hodgson is going to Salamanca as the British agent. Hi Leelie, Charge d’Affaires, at Valencia, to Minister Plenipotentiary. The Australian Associated Press understands that the action has been taken to placate the Spanish Government, which protested against Sir Robert .Hodgson’s appointment. BRITISH GRANT. HOSPTTAL SUPPLIES. Received November 24, 8.5 a.m. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Nov. 22. The British Government's contribution to the funds for the relief of the victims of the civil war in Spain is to be' used for medical stores and hospital equipment for both sides. The Red Cross Committee is also interesting itself in negotiations for the exchange of prisoners.
