MISCELLANEOUS CASES. The fortnightly sitting of the Feilding Magistrate’s Court was held yesterday, Mr R., M. Watson, S.M., presiding. • On a charge of exposing liquor for sale at the Bunnythorpe Hotel after hours, John McKenna, the licensee, was fined £3 and Court costs 12s. Mr J. Graham appeared for defendant and pleaded guilty Sergeant E. Turner said he was satisfied with the explanation of counsel regarding the set ol circumstances whereby the breach had occurred Two men had been found in the bar with the licensee and the door leading from the passage to the bar had been open. For failing to possess certificates of fitness in , respect of their motor vehicles, S. G. Perry (Waituna West) and A. Honore (Tiritea) were ordered to pay Court costs 12s. Mr J. W. Coddington, of the Transport Department, prosecuted. CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. Claiming £7 3s 6d damages resulting from a collision between a motor car and a motor lorry, William Elston, delivery agent, of Palmerston North, proceeded against the. Cheltenham Dairy Co., Ltd. j Mr H. R. Cooper j (Palmerston North) appeared for plaintiff, and Mr A. M. Ongley for the defendant company. Evidence was given by plaintiff that he was driving his car down the Arapata Road, and on reaching a sharp bend on the narrow road he'collided with one of the Cheltenham Dairy Company’s cream lorries which was coming up the hill. There was hardly room for two vehicles to pass on the corner, and defendant’s lorry was on its wrong side. The driver of the lorry, Laurence Sinclair, an employee of the dairy company, stated in evidence that he had been driving for the company for 18 years and had not previously been involved in an accident claim. At the time of the accident he was proceeding up the hill and the lorry was in second gear and travelling at 10 miles per hour. Judgment was entered for the full amount claimed, and costs amounting to £5 12s were also allowed.
