(From Our Own Correspondent.) ' WHAKARONGO. Nov. 22.. Owing to the unfavourable weather conditions (here was only a fair attendance at the November meeting of the Women’s Institute on Friday, presided over by Mrs J. E. Morris. The motto for the day was “To-morrow is the lazy women’s day for beginning work,” and the roll call “Woman’s greatest advance in the last 20 years.” Apologies for absence wore received from Mcsdames H. W. Wood and j. F. Lynch and the sympathy of the Institute was extended to Mrs McSavency in her illness. The correspondence included the resignation of Mrs S James, who has gone to live in Hastings. The balance sheet of the social showed a considerable ’ profit and the report of the council meeting, at which Mrs A. Sly, the secretary, had given a report of the 1936 flower show, was presented by Miss R. Park. It was decided that at. the December meeting an afternoon tea of bread and butter and biscuits be provided and members will be required to pay 3d. The meeting was in favour of the building of a Momorial Hall for womens’ organist'ions. An instructive demonstration on Christmas gifts was given by Mrs Simpson and was groatl.v appreciated. Afternoon ‘ tea was served by the hostesses Mcsdames E. Rout, E. Radomski, C. A. Crawford, F. Fountain, and Miss W. Vautier. The competitions were won as follcw: Special donated by Mrs Clapham for geraniums, Mrs E. Rout 1, Mrs Burr 2; “best bloom from inv garden,” donated by Mrs Romlcy. married members Mrs Burr 1, Mrs A. Sly 2, Mcsdames F. Fountain, R. Meyer and E. Johansen 3 equal; single, Misses R. Park 1, W, Vautier 2, M. Hodgson 3; stool, made from 71b. treacle .tine, married members Mrs. Fountain. 1; single, Miss W. Vautier 1, Miss R. Park 2. At tho December meeting the roll call will bo, “What I should do if I caught fire,” demonstration, removal of stains and home dyeing; competition, Christmas gift cost not to exceed 2s; the hostesses will he Mcsdames L. Eagle, E. L. Smite and LFafcita and Misses V. Burr and R. f l On Saturday night Mr “ m , ; '” fi Coutts held at their residence the tun function to augment the Peters’ Tennis Club the cvemng passing gaily with games and dancing.
