Mrs L. Seifert, junr., of Palmerston North, returned yesterday from a brief visit to Wellington. She accompanied her mother, Mrs H. W. Pilcher, of Hataitai, who will spend a short holiday- in Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs W. Boon, of Queen Street, Palmerston North, have as their guest for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Mr ' Boon’s sister, Mrs M. Burbush, of Auckland. The death of a Maori woman at the age of 105 years has been registered at Hastings. The woman was Terena Puriri. oi Bridge Pa, and when the first notification was received her age was given as 96, but later it was intimated that her real age was 105 years, and this has now been registered as correct. A few months ago the age of another Maori woman, who died at Fernhill, was given as 108 years. “We have to get women out from England to do Maori mission service, but I hope the time will come when New Zealand women will undertake the work,” said lit. Rev. C. A. Cherrington, Bishoii of Waikato, speaking in Hamilton. “It costs us £SO for each of these missionaries’ fares to New Zealand, and another £SO when they want to go home. lam hoping the time will come when the diocese will be able to save that expenditure.'”
