HAWKE’S BAY-MANAWATU. DISTRICT GATHERING. ' ■• / ' ' • The synod of the Hawke’s BayManawatu District of the Methodist Church met in its ministerial committee this morning in the Cuba Street Church, under the presidency of Rev. H. J. Odell, chairman, of the district, who is the superintendent minister of the Napier Circuit. Rev. R. B. Gosnell (Hastings) is" the District Secretary. In addition to these officials there were present:—Revs. J. E. Leadley (Gisborne), A. E. .Waite (Dannevirke), T. Coutsworth (Woodville), C. M. Roberts (Pahiatua), M. A. McDowell (St. Paul’s, Palmerston North), A. Ashcroft (Supernumerary), A. Blakemore (Cuba Street, Palmerston North, synod host), C. A. Foston (Ashliurst), J. H-. Allen (Feilding), and R. E. Fo'rdyce (Sanson-Rongotea). The following were also present: Probationer Rev. W. A. Mills (Greenmeadows); home missionaries, Revs. C. Aker (Halcombe), R. Grice (Foxton), R. Coombridge (Apiti), S. Keen (Waipawa), and J. H. Woolford (Wairoa). After devotional exercises, the chairman welcomed newcomers to the district, and expressed pleasure at the full attendance of members of the committee. The secretary nominated Rev. A. Blakemore as assistant-secretary ; Rev. C. M. Roberts was appointed journal secretary; Rev. R. E. Fordyce reporter, and Rev. A. E. Waite, corresponding secretory. Rev. W. A. Mills, a nrobationer, was duly examined. Mr McDowell reported on the trial sermon, and Mr Blakemore presented the probationer’s booklist and conducted the usual examination.
