INFANT’S INJURIES
SEQUEL IN COURT. HEAVY DAMAGES AWAEDED. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Nov. 22. In an action institutes! before Mr Justice Kennedy On October 28 on liehalf of Kenneth Lloyd, infant, against It. Cahill and Son, carriers, the jury awarded plaintiff £2OOO general damages and £2l 17s special damages. The case was the sequel to an accident in Gardner Street, Mornington, in November of last year in which the child Lloyd was struck by a truck owned by the defendant firm and gravely injured. When the decision of the jury was made Mr J. M. Paterson intimated that he wished jor time to consider whether further action should be taken on the ground that the verdiit was against the weight of the evidence and tJ is Honour postponed entering judgment. The case came before the Court again this morning when Mr Paterson said that he had no application to make. Mr A. N. Haggitt for plaintiff asked for judgment for the amount awarded by the jury, namely £2OOO general damages and £2l 17s special damages with costs and His Honour gave judgment for £2021 17s with costs.
