A THRACIAN COLT.
AWAPUNI TWO-YEAR-OLD. PROGENY OF PYTIIIA. (By “Spectator.”) Big and upstanding, there is at present in Mrs A. IV. McDonald’s stable at Awapuni a fine-looking two-year-old colt by Thracian from Pythia. His appearance on the tracks, which is expected in about a month's time, is awaited with interest, ns ho promises to' develop into a splendid youngster, but ho will not bo hurried. The colt is the property of Mr F. J. Nathan, of Palmerston North, who formerly raced, among'other horses, Wallaroo. Pythia and Top Flier and it is 37 years since ho won the Ashhurst Guineas with St. Amelia Thracian is a full-brother to Ileroio, and Pythia is by Psychology out of Flora McDonald. Pythia is now on a stud farm in Victoria. and has a filly foal at foot by Manitoba (by Manna), unbeaten as a two-year-old iii England. Pythia has a three-year-old daughter by Marconigram, who promises to bo a good filly and has now been r.it in training by L. Robertson at Melbourne. The same mentor has in hand for Mr Nathan a two-year-old Siegfried colt, from Top Flier (by Top Gallant), and this pair will probably do all their racing in Australia.
