SLUGGISH RIVER.
' MEETING OF BOARD. A meeting of the Sluggish River Board was held yesterday, Mr F. J. Foster presiding. After a discussion on the matter of paying the board’s employees for time lost through wet weather, it was resolved that, as other local bodies are paying men for time lost through wet ■weather, the board had no option but to do likewise, and that any previous motions affecting this he rescinded. It was agreed to allow the board’s employees to leave work a quarter of an hour earlier than before on Fridays. Tt was agreed to inspect a number of drains in the Kopane area prior to making a decision to take them over. A decision -was made to secure data regarding a flame-thrower for the destruction of hemlock and grass in the board’s drains.
