manawatu reunion. OLD MATCHES' RECALLED
Interesting incidents in -' J ties of bygone years weie recalled on Saturday afternoon when a reunion of old-time Manawatu representatives wa held at the Showgrounds fol ° vu V T match between Manawatu, andy North m-i.rn Prior to the game the veteians paracled’ and, led by the Manawatu Pipe Band, with the City-.and Gam son Bands also playing, and with banners flying indicating the periods in which they played, marched round the playing area. Present-day players of local clubs also participated in the piocession, which presented an imposing Sl The marshal was the president of the union (Mr A. M. Ongley), vho himself donned the jersey for Mana watu in 1905 and who captained the team for several years; while Me AV. Moffat and R. H.. Stallard, who played for Manawatu m .1882, tho foundation year of the union, led tho band of ex-players. - After the game the veterans weie guests at an informal gathering, when many old friendships were renewed.
