Friday’s closing prices for raw materials were as follow, those for August 20 being shown in parentheses: Cotton. —Liverpool quotation, good American middling, spot 5.63 d a lb (5.78 d); September delivery, 5.40 d a lb (5.61 d). Rubber.—Para, 9id a lb (same); plantation smoked ribbed sheet, 8 15-16 d a lb, (Bjd) • Jute. New crop, September-October shipments, Indian jute, Dundee quotation, £2O 12s 6d a ton (£2O 8s 9d). Copra, September-October shipment, sun-dried South Sea, to London or Rotterdam, £l4 a ton (£l4 12s 6d): smoked, to Marseilles or Genoa, £l4 a ton (£l4 10s); plantation. Rab-ul, to London or Rotterdam, £l4 15s a i (£ls 7s 6d). Linseed oil.—£3l 15s a ton (same). Turpentine—3ss 9d a cwt (same).
