Information compiled by the Placement Officer in Auckland has disclosed v a marked aversion by young men receiving £1 weekly to work in the country when offered £2 2s 6d weekly and their keep. Single men on sustenance have been informed that work is offering in the country and ill the event of their non-acceptance they will be asked to state the reasons for their refusal. So far ten have accept-; ed out of three hundred. The general tenor of the replies is that they do not like cows, farm work, or country life. /
