SKI CONTESTS.
RACES ON MT. RUAPEHU. Per Press Association. THE CHATEAU, Aug. 27. The weather was unsettled and heavy snow showers made conditions soggy for racing at the ski-inggrounds to-day. However, many competitors performed excellently. The Ruapehu Ski Club’s races re : suited; Women’s downhill. —Miss __ J. J). Harrison (Auckland), 4min. 27sec., 1; Miss I. A. Farrelly (Auckland), Gmin. dGsec.. 2; Mis 61. E. S. Mclndoe (Auckland), 7min. 24sec., 3. • Men’s downhill. —J. D. Murphy (Ruapehu Ski Club), lmin. 4-lsec., 1; R. Duncan Nelson (Ruapehu Ski Club), 2min. lG.2sec., 2; A. Hayward (Feilding). 2min. 38.25ec., 3. Men’s open downhill. —J. Loveridge (Ruapehu Ski Club, The Chateau), lmin. CS.Gsec., 1; A. R. Wilson (Tararua Tramping Club, Lower Hutt), 2min. 11.25ec., 2; V. J. Martin-Leve-son (Ruapehu Ski Club), 2min. 33. G sec., 3. The finishing post m these races was just above the Now Zealand championship slalom course. It was fairly difficult, being undulating with deep schusses, where some of the men competitors obtained remarkable speed. The Tararua Tramping Club nek its two races over the New Zealand championship slalom course. Results were as follow: — , Women’s slalom.—Miss IT. Gotlieb (Wellington), 1; Miss M.
