A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Mervyn Tonis, joiner, of Palmerston North, called for Thursday afternoon, lapsed for want of a quorum. , , . Bankrupt, in his sworn statement, said he was employed at £2 a week. In December, 1935, judgment for damages was given against him tor an injury received by plaintiff while pil-lion-riding on bankrupt’s motor-cycle. “At the time of the wages were approximately £1 10s per week, but I was actually off work for seven months owing to the*loss of a finger while at work. I had three operations on the finger—each time a further portion of the finger was removed. Following the judgment 1 met with another accident to my wnst and was off work for five weeks, ibis year my arm was injured again, ana I was off work for a further three weeks, and have since been off tor a further five weeks owing to sickness. I have no property. I pay £1 2s « board and 2s 6d per week for washing. I have been served with an order on a judgment summons, which I have been unable to comply with, and have no option but to file.” A deficiency of £SB 9s was disclosed, debts totalling that sum.
