ONE-WICKET MARGIN. DOMINION’S GRAND EIGHT. SPLENDID CRICKET. (From tiro Special Correspondent of the United Press Association with the Team.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copvrignt.) Received August 28, 10.15 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 27. New Zealand made a grand fight in tlicir match with Kent, when it seemed certain that they would be beaten easily. New Zealand’s cheap loss of the last four wickets loft the cQunty an easy-looking task. When Kent had made 109 runs for the loss of two wickets at lunch the match seemed as good as over. New Zealand, with brilliant bowling and fine fielding, then captured seven wickets in an hour. Roberts bowled as accurately and venomously as he has ever done in England. "His figures in a fine spell of sustained effectiveness were eleven overs, two maidens, 23 runs, lour wickets. Cowio strove manfully. Bowling at top pace, lie took his 100th wicket on the tour. • The New Zealand fielding was faultless. Roberts made a superhuman onehanded diving catch at first slap.Fourteen runs were required when the last two • batsmen became associated and New Zealand might easily have won, Cowie almost bowled one batsman, who chopped hard down on tho hall very late. The hall ran off, but, though heavily striking the stumps, the hails miraculously remained in position. After this escape the last pair, amid wild excitement-, scored the in* liing runs.
