(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, July 21. Miss IS. M. Aitchison, of Hastings, is tlio guest of Miss I. Sutherland, of Foxton. Miss N. Woods is spending a holiday in Palmerston North. Mrs J. M. Thomson has entered a private hospital in Palmerston North.

At the usual monthly meeting of Iho Foxton Plunkct Society correspondence was read in connection with the Wanganui group provincial confcicnja, and it was decided not to send' any representatives this year as the parent branch will be well represented. Arrangements in connection with renovations of the room were left in the hands of Mesdames Trueman and Barron. A letter received from Mrs J). It. Ogilvy set out a proposition in regard to perpetuating the memory of the late Hr E. M. Wyllic, and it was supported. A donation list has already £ls 15s subscribed. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Ogilvy for her proposal. An outbreak of fire which might easily havo had serious coiiecqucnccii occurred at the rear of local premises yesterday afternoon when some benzine fumes exploded unexpectedly' and 1001 b of kapoc in a room adjoining, 'separated by a flimsy partition, immediately burst into flames, 'fhe brigade was able to suppress the outbreak, however, before any serious damage was done. At a social evening, organised tby the members of the Foxton Golf Club, Miss U. Barrat was farcwcllcd. Mr AJ. Bail’d (secretary) wished Miss Barrat every success and happiness in Napier where she is joining the staff of the Napier Hospital and a.-ked her to accept a haiidsome fountain lien and pencil us a token of approc.ation and Cntcom from the club members. The funeral of the late Mrs C. C. Moore took place locally on .Monday afternoon and was largely attended. Services at All Saints’ Church and at the graveside were conducted by Mr E. A. Field.

Following an injury leecivcd while at work Mr W. Baker has had to undergo an operation for the amputation cf the fin t two joints cf his right index linger.
