OBITUARY.
MRS J. B. INNES. Mrs Harriet Ellen Innes, widow of the late Mr J. B. Innes, Wellington, died at her residence, Boulcott Street, a few days ago. in her eighty-eighth year. Mrs Innes, who retained her mental faculties up to the last, was born in Willis Street in 1850, and with the exception of a period spent at Hawera, was a resident of Wellington all her days. She was a daughter of the late Mr Edward Hutchings, one of Wellington’s pioneer builders and contractors. She married Mr J. B. Innes, printer, bookseller and stationer, who during the later years of liis life conducted a business in Willis Street that was the rendezvous for many years of booklovers. It was Mr J. B. Innes who, with the late Mr Patrick Galvin, established the Hawera Star in 1880. The family resided for eight years in Hawera, when Mr Innes sold out to the late Mr J. C. York, who. on leaving for England, sold his interest to the late Mr Parkinson. Mr Innes and his family returned to Wellington in 1888, and settled there permanently. I Mrs Innes leaves a family of four sons-and two daughters. The sons are Messrs C. A. Innes (Wellington), Frank Innes (Christchurch), Harry Innes (Australia), Arthur Innes (Wellington), Mrs Henry Sutton (Hawera) and Mrs A. Kinnear (Adelaide).
