PROGRESS OF SCHEME DETAILS OF ACTIVITIES. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 21. Statistics of building activities under the Government’s housing scheme was announced by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary in charge of Housing (Mr J. A. Lee) to-night. He said that 1100 men were now engaged on the construction of State dwellings and it was very probable a similar number were indirectly engaged. . Land for houses' had been acquired in 38 different centres and negotiations were proceeding in a large number of other places. In 24 towns tenders had been called, these covering 11 GO houses. Contracts had been let for 727 houses, while nearly 300 houses were at present in course of erection and 50 almost ready for occupation. •
