OROUA BOWLING CLUB.
MR ,E. HICKS FAREWELLED. A farewell social and dance to Mr ana Mrs E. Hicks, and Miss E. Hicks, who are leaving Feilding after a long residence to live at Dannevirke, was held in the Women’s Division rooms last evening. r lhe function, which was arranged by the Oroua Bowling and Croquet Clubs, of which Mr ana Mrs Kicks are members, proved an enjo,iav'j one. 'there was a large attenuance and the programme consisted of community singing, vocal and musical items, competitions and dancing. Those who contributed were Misses Garrett, Hausmann, and C. Pearson. Messrs A. Pitman, C. Hausmann, N. Smithers and Smith. Mrs \V. McPhail presided at the piano. Mrs C. Aitken, on behalf of the croquet ladies, presented Mrs Hicks with a crystal powder bowl and scent spray, and expressed regret mat sue was leaving Feilding. The speaker said that Mrs Hicks had been a very enthusiastic member and had always been ready to assist with any 1 unctions. Mr C. Hausmann, on behalf of the members of the Bowling Club, presented Mr Hicks with a fountain pen and a box of cigaretes, while Mr C. Aitken, on behalf of the week-end bowlers, also made the presentation of an electric reading lamp. Messrs C. Hausmann (president of the Oroua Bowling Club), C. M. Sargisson (president of the Feilding Bowling Club), C. Aitken, and S Jarrett all spoke in high terms of Mr Hicks’s services, stating that not only was he an outstanding bowler and one of the best skips in the Manawatu, but also had been a great worker and had assisted in preparing the green for matches, etc. All bowlers were sorry to lose M r Hicks, and wishes for his future happiness and success were expressed.
