OLD FEIEDING SETTLER.
DEATH OF MR W. BENNETT. The dentil occurred at Otangiwai, Matiere, on the Main Trunk Line, recently, of Mr William Bennett, shortly after his return to his farm from a visit to Awnhuri, when lie was present at the school jubilee. Mr Bennett saw Feilding in its pioneer days, arriving in New Zealand from Sunderland” with his parents in, 1873, and camping at first on land that lias become Denbigh Square. Mr Bennett’s father, the late Mr James Bennett, had the first dairy factory at Kauwhata, and the late Mr William Bennett was one of those attending the Awalmri School ill its earlv days. He leaves a widow, one son.' five daughters, and there are 16 grandchildren. He lost one son at the war. He had 10 brothers and sisters, hut one member of the family uredecesiscd him. . , ' Relatives in this district are: Messrs J. H. Bennett and R. D. Bennett (Te Arak.mi), and H F. Ben ( f«Vivton 1. brothers. A sister, Mrs F. Lcwer, predeceased her brother some time ago. •
