SHORTAGE OF LABOUR
Due, it is slated, to the shortage of labour, about 25 per cent, of the dairy farmers in the Dannevirke district have decided to reduce the size of their dairy herds and go in for sheep, while some of them are even making a complete change over ,to sheep. It is. expected that even if the guaranteed price to be announced for the coming season is considerably higher, that the present movement towards sheep will continue. Many farmers are finding it impossible to get suitable labour for milking even at the wages fixed by statute.
