(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, July 19.

Mr I. W. Mudford, secretary of the Foxlon District High School Committee, and a member of tho Wanganui Education Board, is in .Wellington attending tho educational conference. Misses F. McKenzie' and E. Walls are on a holiday visit to Auckland. Advice has been received that N. P. Mudlord and V. A. Bowden have been successful in passing the Post and Telegraph examination held recently. Mr L. C. Bryant of Park Street, was able to return borne on Saturday from Levin where he recently underwent an operation for appendicitis. '} ho doatli occurred on Sunday, after a brief illness, of Mrs Clemente Cecile Moore, of Coley Street,, aged 57 years. Mrs Moore was a well-known local resident, having resided in I'oxton for a number of years. Born at German Bay, Akaroa, she was married at Palmerston North and came to Foxton in 1912, where she had resided since. IJei' husband (Mr W. F. Moore), two daughters (Mrs J. Barrat, of Lovin, and Mrs V. Semple, of Wellington), and a son (Mr V. Moore, of Taihape), are loft to mourn their loss. Mr J. Le Vaillant, of Taipuba, and Messrs P. and F. Lo Vaillant, of Duvaucheile’s Bay, are brothers. Tile death occurred at an early hour on Sunday morning of a well-known and highly respeclcd native resident of Foxton in the person of Mr Tawhairoa Eruera. A native of high, rank, he was a member of the Ngatiraukawa tribe. He took up his residence in Foxton, a number of years ago and during his sojourn hero took a keen and active interest in various phases of sport. For many years he was an enthusiastic member of the Foxton Tennis Club and Foxton Bowling Club. He followed a farming occupation and was interested in several properties in this district. .. At one time he was a lay-reader of the Anglican Church. He had not enjoyed the best of health for the past year. Mr Eruora leaves a wife and two daughters to mourn their loss. Tho burial will take place at Paranui Palf where a tangi is now in progress. The death occurred last Wednesday at Motuiti of a well-known native woman in the porsoa of Mrs Kehu Kauri. A tangi was held at Motuiti where .the burial took place on Saturday. Playing on Easion Patk ,on Saturday Mout.oa Estate juniors beat Rahui by 12 points to 3 points. _ ' Farmers in many parts of the district are experiencing a shortage of feed at the present time and those who are heavily stocked are spending a good deal of time in search of grazing. Stock are being driven slowly round the various country roads in the northern part of the district in order to provide them with grazing on tho roadways. The prolonged spell of dry weather is most fortunato for those who are compelled to “feed-out.” Nominations for several vacancies on tho Foxton Racing Club ore: —President: Mr W. E. Barber; vice-presidents, Messrs S. R. Austin, M. B. Borgin, R. Bryant, and D. R. Ogilvy (elected unopposed): stewards, .Messrs S. W. Barber, J. \V. Bowe, E. Christiansen, A. P. Easton, and H. F. Hughes (four required). At the Levin Domain on Saturday thirteen seven-a-side teams from tho Horowhenua district met in tho annual primary schools’ tournament. Results:—First round: Manakau A 3 v. Shannon B nil; Otaki A 10 v. Tokomaru nil: Levin Convent lost to Manakau B; Foxton A 9 v. Ohau nil; Foxton B lost to Otaki B by a force down. Second round: Manakau B nil v. Otaki A 11; Levin B nil v. Manakau A 11; Foxton A nil v. Shannon A 3; Levin A 6 v. Otaki B nil. Semi-finals: Otaki A nil v. Manakau A 3: Shannon A Bv. Levin A 3. Final: Manakau' A nil v. Shannon .A 3,
