BELGRADE DISTURBANCES.
POLICE CHARGE CROWD. Received July 21, 2 p.m. BELGRADE, July 20. Members of tbe Orthodox Church demonstrated in Kalimegdan Park against the Concordat with the Vatican. They threw stones and bricks at the police guarding the cathedral and the police fired into the air and cleared the park alter a bayonet charge in which several persons were wounded.
The authorities have declared a state of alarm. They have forbidden street gatherings and have removed the police commissioner (M. Lazarevitsch) as responsible for the disturbances. Armed men later occupied tbe cathedral and hoisted to the spire the torn banner carried at the head of yesterday's procession. The Orthodox Church Bishop Dositez has appealed to the Archbishop of Canterbury for sacerdotal support. The Orthodox Church Synod has telegraphed the Regent, Prince Paul, calling upon him to defend the Church.
