In regard to the recent chariot racing, the secretary (Mr Hugh Kissling) made the following report: “Roman Chariot Races. —The success of this experiment is too obvious to need much comment. There is no doubt in my mind that even better results will be achieved by the holding of further chariot races at the Roy?* Show. I consider it essential that good prize money be offered and tha an adequate number of chariots ant sets of harness be provided, also that the fullest possible publicity be given to the event. I suggest the following details:—(l) Thursday: One mile (4 laps) handicap, first prize £ls, second £7, third £3; nomination lUs, acceptance 10s. (2) Saturday: n mile (4 laps) handicap first £2O, second £lO, third £5. Nomination 10s, acceptance 10s. (3; Buy c J ne , ?1 o in< Ai chariot at the price quoted, £lO. W Provide at least 6 sets of harness, (o) On Saturday run two trottings events at suitable times between heats of the chariot races; the priMs .to be test £7, second £5, third £3, m each case. The prize money for the chariot racing would involve £OO, and aU 1 prize money £9O, while chariot the total would he £lO6, which would be the exact amount spent on the wrestling featured at the < Spring Show. . . Consideration of the provision harness was held over . until a later date. One of the trotting races is to be for pacers and the other for trotters.
