The friends of Mr J. H. Carson, of Queen Street, will regret to lea.rn that he is at present a patient in a private hospital. Messrs J. A. Russell, Jos. Batclielar and J. Linklater were to-day appointed the representatives of the ManaWatu and West Coast A. and P. Association on the Palmerston North Jubilee Committee.

Mr H. Y. Lethbridge was granted three months’ leave of absence at a meeting of the general committee of the Manawatu and West Coast Association to-day. It was stated that Mr Lethbridge was visiting San Francisco.

Mr Q. O. Wilson, of Bulls, was welcomed back at the monthly meeting of the Manawatu and West Coa6t A. and P. Association’s general committee to-day. The president (Mr J. A. Russell) said Mr Wilson had had a slight accident, and all were pleased to see him looking so well again. Mr G. R. Ashbridge, secretary of the New Zealand Educational Institute, who has been awarded a Carnegie travelling scholarship (in administration), lias arranged to leave Wellington for Sj'dney on August 2 to connect with the liner Orford for England. Later he will visit America. Mr Ashbridge, who will be accompanied by Mrs Ashbridge, expects to be absent from New Zealand for about 12 months. Resolutions of condolence with the relatives ol the late Messrs N. H. Nash (Palmerston North), W. H. Buick (Masterton) and A. G. Gust (Rongotea), and with Mr W. McKenzie in the loss of his wife, were passed at the monthly meeting of the Manawatu and W T est Coast A. and P- Association to-day.
