STEEPLES TO MISS PANGO. IDDO SCORES IN HURDLES. HASTINGS, July 19. Favoured with a sprint? 1 ike day for their annual meeting, which had been postponed from Saturday, the Hawke’s Bay Hunt Club had a very succesful meeting. The totalisator investments were £5695, as against £5621 on the Saturday of last year. The attendance was good and the track was in good order. Top Hat was first over the initial obstacle from Begorrah, Master Ileclor and Salon. Racing up the back straight, Begorrah ran past Top Hat but, with three furlongs to go Iddo moved up fast and was well clear of Begorrah, Top Hat and Salon at the last jump to win easily bv three lengths from Begorrah. Top llat was eight- lengths further away and Salon a moderate fourth, just beating Contact. Werohia was pulled up. OKAIVA MAIDEN, of £SO. Five furlongs. 1 THALA, 8.2 (Atkins) 1 4 MON ACE (B. 11. Oha was the first to show out from agood start, but Seaeourt soon tool; charge and was followed over the early stages by Seattle, Triplex, Mon Ace and 'Hilda. Racing to the straight, Seaeourt was just in front of Seattle and Thalft, but the last-named then ran to the lead and ultimately won by two lengths from Mon Ace, who finished better than Triplex. Seaeourt was a close fourth.

In the run to the winning post Miss Pango easily held her position to beat Wykcmist, by three-quar-ters of a. length, with Cotslield a. noo.k further back and Phrenology and Dozie sonic distance back. Two lengths; half a head. Time, 2.18. Helios began very smartly and, passing the main stand, was followed by Tractile, Trailer and Umpire. Up the back stretch Blue Shirt ran up fast and was almost on terms with Helios und Tractile at the straight entrance. Over the last furlong Tractile ran on well to bent. Aube went to the front from the bar-l-ier-riso, and was followed by Cletrac anil Mercian Prince far most of the journey. Entering the straight, Conveyer and Cle trac both moved up, but Aube bad little difficulty in winning bv two lengths from Cletrac,' while Conveyer was several lengths away in third place and Mercian Prince was a poor fourth. From a good start Marsyas was first to become prominent, but Pukehou soon rushed to the front, and at. the straight entrance was well clear of Colleen Gain, Buster Brown, and Marsyas. In the run up the straight a great race took place, Colleen Gain hanging on just long enough to bent Buster Brown and Marsyas, who were separated by half a head. Parry was right up fourth.

Slippery quickly got into his stride and was followed by Blygain, Kahikatoa, Sir Nigel, and Bun Fight. There was practically no alteration till well in the straight. Here Bun Fight got a run through next to the rails and went on to win by three-parts of a length from Blygain, with Sir Nigel another length away and Tres Sec next.
