GROWTH OF DEMAND.
CITY’S ELECTRICITY LOAD. “Units handled for the month of June, 1937, totalled 1,672,980, as against 1,429,876 for June of last year, an increase of 17 per cent. The peak load was 3591 k.v.a. this year as against 3187 k.v.a. last year. This increased load taxed the distribution system and many of the distribution transformers were caryirng overloads,”' reported the electrical engineer (Mr J. W. Muir) to the meeting of the Palmerston North City Council, last evening. Numbers of distribution transformers ordered in December had arrived and were being installed, while the new transformer for the Main Street substation was due early next month. Underground 400 volt cables had been laid in the city.
