HARRIERS.
Y.M.C.A. CLUB RACE. Tho Y.M.C.A. Harrier Club held a race over a two-lap course of about 4.) miles on Saturday afternoon, commencing from the Whaka.rongo School. C. Holmes (12min.) ran above all previous form and finished over 4min ahead of the second man, R. Scorrer (6imin). Scorrer. a newcomer, showed grea.t promise and ran very well in his first race. R. Moore (6Jmin) was third man in, and tiie middle and backmarkers followed soon afterwards in several bunches. C. Weller, off scratch, finished thirteenth, but obtained fastest time in 22min 476ec.
N. Hearsey, J. Scott, K. Galloway, S. Oxenliam, C. McVicar and A. Newlands also ran well, but the handicaps proved too great. However, the earlier men showed better form than anticipated. The course was mostly road running and the pace was fast throughout. The following are the placings of the first 10 men to finish; there were 16 starters. No times, except Weller’s, are available. .
