CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. LONDON, July 18. Tho English amateur athletic championship meeting was held at White City. Results include : Half-mile, final : A. J. Collyer (Watford Harriers), 1. Time, 1.53.3 sec. Tho title-holder, J. V. Powell, was unplaced. lOOyd.q final: C. B. Holmes (Manchester Athletic), 1. Time, 9.9. A. \Y. Sweeney, the title-holder, was second and E. L. Page third. 120yds hurdles, final: D. 0. Finlay (Air Force), titleholder, 1. Time, 14.5 —an English native record. 220yds, final: Sweeney (Air Force), title-holder, 1. Tinie, 21.9. Holmes was second.
Three miles: P. D. Ward (Achilles Club), 1. Time, 14.19.8. Long jump: L. Long (Germany), 1. Distance, 24ft o£in, a championship record.
Quarter-mile hurdles : J. Bosnians (Belgium), 1. Time,- 55. J. Sheffield, the title-holder, was beaten in a heat. One mile: S. C. Wooderson (Blackheath Harriers), title-holder, 1. Time, 4.12.2, a championship record. Quarter-mile: Roberts (Salford Athletic), 1. Time, 48.2, a championship record. R. W. Wyldo (Edinburgh Athletic) was second and J. C. Horsfall (Achilles) third. The Marathon was won hv McNab ltobertson (Maryhill Harriers). Time, 2.37.19.2. Robertson was the titleholder.
800-METRE RECORD. JOHN WOODRUFF’S TIME. DALLAS, July 18. Running in all 800-metre race at the Pan-American track and field games, John Woodruff put up the Marld record time of 1.47 4-5. "he previous record of 1.49 7-10 was set by G. Cunningham last year.
