THE BUZZER’S BROTHER. (By “Spectator.”) Purchased at the Sydney yearling sales, a colt by The Buzzard from Eastern Bello is developing nicely at Ellerslie and is regarded as a typical Derby colt in the making. Ho has already shown that ho possesses promising speed. This colt is a full-brother to The Buzzer, a. winner this season, one of his recent victories being in tho Tamntete Handicap, one milo and a quarter, the chief event at Awapuni in April. His dam, Eastern Bello, is by Syce from Culture, by Boniform from Culroy, a daughter of Wallace and Hortense. This colt was purchased for Mr W. H. Maria, who had a successful season with Airam, who was also secured at the same sales in 1936. Erndale Looking Well. Erndalo, whose dual victory at tho Great Northern meeting stamped him as a hack above the average, is looking very bright and muscular at Ellerslie. Erndale nas proved his ability under winter conditions, but there is no reason why he should not be equally at home in firm going. Present intentions are to race Erndale at the Pakuranga fixture, and ho will lack nothing on the score of condition. Wanganui Club’s Profit. After providing for depreciation on buildings and plant, the net profit by the Wanganui Jockey Club for tho year is £585 17s sd, and tho eommittco consider tho result very satisfactory, seeing that during the year a sum in tho vicinity of £6OO was spent by way of repairs and maintenance and increasing the cai parking area, both for members and ilife general public. During the season Triune registered some first-class performances over distances up to a mile, and on most Occasions was required to carry big weights. An Attractive Colt. Doorstop is by Son-in-Law from Eire Clay, by Worcester from Simonia, a daughter of St. Simon, from Pamela hy Hampton. It will thus be seep that Sir Robin embraces some of tho best staying blood in tho world.

Fersen Showing Dash, Fersen, the New Zealand Cup winner, has been showing dash in his sprinting tasks at Avondale. It. is doubtful if lie over looked better at this stage of the season, and if he goes on as at present E. George will start the bay gelding in the sprint event at the Pakuranga meeting. Gay Rebel Eased. Gay Rebel, who is. one of the most improved gallopers seen out during the latter part of tho season, is suffering from a slight cold and is at present only duing tho lightest of tasks, lie lias done a fair amount of raping and travelling since the autumn and has stood up to it in good style. Although approaching Ins sixth year, Gay Rebel has not. been over-raced, and next season should find him performing even better. He is by Guy Shield from Marble Bell, a good stake-earner in her day. Olivette, a half-sister to Gay Rebel, is aiso getting through a useful preparation, but at present is carrying a bit of surplus condition. Mishna Impresses. By Rabbi from Conviction, tho three-year-old colt Mishna impressed as a promising novice at Trentham. He is stated to be a typical Rabbi and bears great resemblance to Synagogue. Conviction, the dam of Mishna, is by Elvsian from Lawn Rose, by Hillstone —Spring Rose, by Medallion.

Alyth, who raced prominently at tho Great Northern meeting, where in two starts she gained a fourth and second placing, being beaten on the latter occasion by a -good hack in Erndale. Only a thrcc-yoar-old, Alyth should bo all the better for the experience, mid there is ample time for her to go on to better doeds.

Jubilee Singer. The New Zealand-bred colt Jubilee Singer was iccontly purchased in Sydney and has gone into C. W. Morgan’s stable, in Brisbane. He was one of the picked lots at the Trentham yearling sales in January, 1936, and J. T. Cush secured him for 500 guineas. Jubilee Singer, who is by Nigger Minstrel from Bravado, did not race up to expectations as a t.wo-year-old, but lie won two events at minor meetings this season. Kairangi Shipped North. The number of imported thoroughbred slallions owned in Now Zealand at the pxo&ent time is 50, and that is well up to the most noteworthy record of past years, says an exchange. Horses tracing to Bend Or number 11. Tho Hampton line has been considerably leinforccd in the Dominion of recent years by the importation of Foxbridgo, Foxlight, Gainscourt, Leighton, Philanior, Sieglried, Posterity, Vermeer and Kincardine. By tho death of Liniond, tho most notable sire of the St. Simon line who stood in New Zealand, the list tracing to the celebrated Galopin horse is reduced to Arrowsmith, by Chaucer; Dink, bv Never Venture; Musketoon, by Sledfast; Paper Money, by Greenback, and Valkyrian, by William the Third.
