(From Our Own Correspondent.) KAIRANGA, July 14. The July meeting of the Katrttnga Women's Institute was held yesterday, Mrs P. Loamy presiding over a lair attendance. An apology was received from Airs AleClelland. Correspondence was lead from Mrs Lawrence, a former member new residing up the Wanganui River, thanking the members for their gift, also from Mis Drew enclosing the number of points gamed at the recent A. and P. Show with the Kairanga Institute exhibit. , It was decided tliot the fifth institute birthday bo held in August. Airs Thomas, of le Arakura, gave a demonstration on lugmak ing from sugar bags. Mrs Loamy accorded Mrs Thomas a vote of thanks. Hie competitions were judged by Mosdames Thomas and Firth and resulted; Jam jar of flowers, Mrs E. Kilgour 1, Airs L. Clark 2, Mrs J. Burmeister 3; seniors, cggless walnut cake, Mrs Kilgour 1, Mrs L. Clark 2, Airs Davey 3; juniors, doughnuts, Miss Al. Ploughman 1, Aliss G. Hyde 2. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdamcs Green and Hughes, and Miss Hughes. Competitions for August arc : Seniors, jar of marmalade; juniors, fancy coat hunger. Hostesses: Mosdames Cummins, Col lingo, Burmeister and Funnel!. A committee meeting was held, Mrs P. Lcamy presiding over the following members: Mosdames Davey, J Clark, C. Hyde, 11. Turner, 11. Green, E. Mnllett, J. Burmeister, L. Clark, and Miss Small. Competitions were arranged as follow: September, seniors, knitted tea cosy; juniors, decorated coffee sponge. October, seniors, something new front something old; juniors, child’s worked' apron. Mr S. Jackson, the manager of the local factory, is spending Jiis annual vacation, accompanied by the Misses Jackson, 'in Taranaki. A house-warming party was tendered last evening to Mr and Mrs A. Pedersen, who wore recently married. The time was spent in dancing. Among those present were Mr and Mrs 11. R. Green, Misses I. and J. Green, Mrs Small, Miss Small, Mr and Mrs Carey, Mrs 0. Burmeister, Mrs G. Bacon, Miss E. Burmeister,. Mrs C. Neiyntan, Misses J. Newman, J. Eglinton, M. Clarke, Mr and Mrs R. Clarke, Mr Pedersen, Mr and Mrs 1,. Clark, Mr and Mrs D.
