Though the pressure has risen over most of the Dominion there has been little change in the north, and a deep depression is centred east .of Cook Strait, which is now, however, loginning to fill up. Conditions should therefore shortly moderate. Forecast: Strong southerly winds to gales but decreasing gradually. Weather cold, squally and changeable with frequent showers; heavy, with some hail, east of the ranges, but improving to-night. Seas rough to high. RIVER GAUGE AT PALMERSTON NORTH. Noon. —2ft. Gin.
