Y.M.C.A. HARRIERS.

WIN FOll J. WOODD. An invitation harrier run was held by the Y.M.C.A. Club from Mr T. Venn’s residence, Linton, on Saturday afternoon. The race was over a cross-country -course of about six miles. The boggy nature of the paddocks and the bitter southerly wind, together wi(h the hail showers, proved a great discomfort to the runners. J. Woodd (5m in.) was the first -home, thus winning the cup donated by Mr C. P. Nash. His time was 37min. Tv. Galloway showed rare speed and stamina to finish second, twenty-five yards behind Woodd. He also gained fastest time, 33min. 4-3 sec. S. Oxenham finished third and N. Hearsey fourth. C. Weller obtained second fastest time in 34min. 30 sec. After the race the runners were entertained at afternoon tea, when Mr S. Oxenham (club captain) thanked Mr and Mrs Venn for their hospitality and also congratulated .the winner on his fine performance.' Mr Venn, an old Napier harrier. gave the , boys good advice regarding harriers matters in general.
