EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” JUNE 7, 1907. . The Pahrierston North Borough Council had decided to raise a loan of £2400 lor the purchase of municipal buildings and £ISOO for the' extension of the library buildilig. It had also decided to erect pipe bridges over the Tiritea Stream. It°had been decided to hold a big fmic tion in Shannon to celebrate the driving of the first pile of the new Shannon bridge. More about the state of the streets had boon heard at the Palmerston North Borough Council meeting, Mr J. A. Nash said they were disgraceful. Residents of the town, in whatever direction they lived, had to wade through slush and mud. He advocated the purchaser of another sweepet and another scraner. New Zealand butler was selling at 38s a cwt on the London market, Danish being quoted at 102 s.
