YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Trading was fairly active on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, the recorded turnover covering two parcels of Government stocks, 3270 shares, and 1309 New Zealand Brewery “rights.” Government loans showed a lirm tone on an active demand. Bank shares were dull, except New Zealand, seven parcels of which sold at 45s 6d, more being wanted at that figure. The D long-term mortgage issue was firmer at 27s 3d, sellers holding for 28s. Union Bank were weak at £lO 17s, sellers £ll. and there was no inquiry for other issues. New Zealand Guaranteed Corporation advanced to business at ss. Industrial issues were very dull on a sluggish demand. New Zealand Breweries eased to 49s 9d, cum dividend and ex rights and the market for tho latter eased to 22s 6d. New Zealand Insurance were very firm at 645, no sellers. South British cased to 93e 9d. National were wanted at 16s Bd, sellers asking 17s.
