FRIENDLY SOCIETIES
MANCHESTER UNITY, 1.0.0. F. Loyal Manawatu Lodge held its regular meeting on Thursday and tho installation of officers for the new term was carried out with great impressiveness by L.M. J3ro t . IT. Mullaney. The attendance was approximately 100 members. Correspondence received included invitations from Loyal Marton and Loyal Woodville Lodges to their installation of officers, and from All Saints’ Men’s Club to a special service for men, all being accepted. A circular letter and subscription list in reference to the King George V Memorial Fund was received, and it was decided to ■reply stating that the Grand Lodge in April last granted the sum of £ISOO on behalf of the order in New Zealand. Each lodge contributes a share of this, Loyal Manawatu Lodge’s quota being approximately £2O. Three members were initiated into the order and four candidates were proposed for membership. Visitors were present from the following lodges:—Raetilii, Foxton, Kimbolton, Heart of Oak, Mangatainoka, Egmont, Marton, Whangarei, Waipu, Manchester, and Dannevirke. The D.D.G.M. of the district, Bro. IV. G. Nye, was also present and expressed his pleasure at the large attendance and also on the extensive list of visitors, some of whom had travelled a great distance to be present. The N.G., Sis. R. Drury, welcomed the visitors on behalf of the lodge, and lodge honours were accorded them by the Manawatu members. Sis. R. Drury, N.G., reported on a visit to Loyal Foxton Lodge, and Bro. L. W. Rees on a visit to Loyal Mangatainoka Lodge. The installation of officers was carried out by L.M. Bro. H. Mullaney, P.D.C.M. Bro. 0. J. Rodgers and P.G. Bro. H. Freeman acting as conductors. The following officers were installed:—N.G., Bro. L. W. Rees: V.G., Bro. McNaughton; 1.P.N.G., Sister R. Drury; E.S., Bro. L. Haynes ; Warden, Bro J. Cade ; I. Bro. IT. Sweetman; 0.G., Bro. A. D. Dawick; conductors. Sister M. Clark and Bro. C. V. Christiansen; R.S.N.G., Bro. J. Prisk, P.G.; L.S.N.G., Sister U. Rees; R.S.V.G., Bro. G. Forbes; L.S.V.G., Bro. J. Carroll. Dancing was indulged in with enthusiasm until a late hour, Bro. J. Paul being at the piano. The evening was voted by all as one of the most successful and enjoyable held in the hall. The visitors wore given a rousing sendoff. particularly Raetihi members, who had a long journey in front of them.
