MANAWATU ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Manawatu Croquet Association was held yesterday afternoon, when Mrs W. J. Robertson presided over delegates from the Manawatu, Northern, Takaro, Oroua, Levin, Terrace End, Woodville and Eeilding Clubs. Apologies for absence were received from Pahiatua, Dannevirke, Eketahuna md Manakau delegates. The report, which was adopted, stated : “The committee is pleased to be able to congratulate the association on another successful year. Our membership was practically the same as last season. We are very pleased to welcome the Eketahuna Croquet Club into our association and wish them every success. There was keen interest taken in inter-club matches and association badges, despite _ our season not throwing off its winter mantle, Mrs Anstis, our liandicapper, is touring England, and we wish her a happy holiday. The annual tournament was an improvement oil the entries of past seasons. The winners were: Champion singles, Mrs Morgan ; champion doubles, Mesdames T. Simpson and Wood ; handicap doubles, Mesdames T. Simpson and Lee; handicap singles, A grade, Mrs Bryant; Ii grade, Mrs Moxon; champion singles, B grade, Mrs Oliver; C rrrade, Mrs McCarthy; handicap singles, C grade, Mrs Permain; silver buttons, A grade, Mrs J. PRetrio (Oroua); B grade, Mesdames P Anderson (Northern) and G. Watchorn (Manawatu). At a gala day held in April for the purpose of presenting the haulier and seven buttons by our president (Mrs Robertson), the banner was won bv tlie Poxtoii Club. Holder of the Pollock Stars are Mesdames Langford and T. Simpson; Corbridge Stars, Mesdames Gerke and Murray; Brighton Mallets, Mesdames Snelling and Gould; Bennett Buttons, Mesdames Gould and Christmas. The association wishes to express its thanks to the Press for its courtesy in reporting all croquet matches, etc. ; to the auditor (Mr lCerslake), to Mrs Anstis (our liandioapper), to the clubs for their greens during the season, and to the referees for their untiring work at all matches.” . Robertson (re-elected); vicepresidents, Mesdames Petrie and Corbridge; lion, secretary, Mrs S. J. Parkes (re-elected); handicapper, Mrs E. Anstis; assistant-handicapper, Mrs T. Simpson; country hanefieappers,, Mesdames Glass (Dannevirke) and Nicholson (Levin); official referee, Mrs T. Simpson; referees, Mesdames Petrie, Robertson, Brown, Radford, McMurray, Wood, Benfel], . Nicholson, Glass, Burnett, Aitken, and Anderson.

Mrs Nicholson was accorded a vote of thanks for the commendable manner in which she had carried out the duties connected with the handicapping of country players) as was Mrs Parkes for her work as secretary.

Preliminary arrangements were made for the holding of the annual tournament, which is to commence on November 30. Mrs Parkes was authorised to send invitations to the various clubs likely to participate. It was resolved to have the headquarters, for the tournament, at the Manawatu green.

It was decided to include a level event for 3 to 5 bisque players. Mrs Parkes was appointed to manage the tournament.

When the question of catering for those participating in the inter-club matches was discussed, it was resolved to make no alterations to the usual form. Mrs Kenyon intimated that the Woodville Club was prepared to have two inter-club matches played on its greens. Oroua, Feilding, I#evin and Kimbolton also intimated that they were not averse to the accommodation of an inter-club match.

Sympathy was expressed with Mrs Scroggs in her illness. The secretary was instructed to write conveying members’ good wishes for a speedy recovery.
