BASIC WAGE RATE.
INCREASE CLAIMED IN VICTORIA Received June 5, 11.5 a.in. MELBOURNE, June 5. During the hearing of a claim by 52 unions for an increase in the basic wage, Mr Crofts, for the unions, produced .a cable message from the actingPrime Minister of New Zealand (Hon. P. Eraser) which stated that the restoration of purchasing power to the wa »e earners bv the present Government had been quickly reflected in unproved business conditions. Mr Eraser added that there had been no evidence of a flight of capital to Australia as ,a result of the Government measures in New Zealand. r
