(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, June 2.

Mrs W. Haynes, of Wellington, is on a brief visit to her mother, Mrs E. Robinson. Mrs F. Procter, who has been on a holiday visit to Auckland, has returned home. Mrs L. Richardson, who underwent a serious operation in the Palmerston North Hospital, is progressing satisfactorily. Mrs S. I. Walden has returned to Foxton from a holiday spent in Napier. Sirs W. I-lamcr is indisposed and confined to her home. A radio was intsalled at the District High School yesterday, the money for which was raised by the Parents’ Association.

At the monthly social afternoon of All Saints’ Ladies’ Guild competitions were won as follow:—Wall quoits: Mrs Notifies; jumbled names, Miss E. Barber; ping-pong, Mrs W. Bowden; “big shot,” Mrs L. C. Bryant; guessing, Mrs C. Robinson. Vocal items were rendered by Mesdaines W. M. Thomas and E. Bryant. At the annual meeting of the Foxton Returned Soldiers’ Association the president (Mr D. Brooks) referred to the death of two members of the association, Dr E. M. Wyllie and Mr C. Ingram, and also to the death of the late Mr J. K. Hornblow, who had always taken a keen interest in tho association, members standing in silence as a mark of respect. During tho year tho association handled £149. Of this amount, £ll6 was expended, £75 being distributed to cases needing assistance, thus leaving a credit balance of £33. It was decided that the association should carry on as a sub-branch of Levin. Officers ' for tho ensuing year are :—President, Mr D. Brooks; secretary, Mr H. Podmore ; treasurer, Mr J. F. Riches; committee, tho retiring eommittoe with tho addition of Messrs J. M. Thomson, E. W. Thompson, Captain J. R. Middleton, Palmerston North; A. East, and J. Macdon. aid. . At tho monthly meeting of the le Awahou Sea Scout committee the president (Mr J. Macdonald) being in the chair, correspondence in connection with the purchasing of oars and fittings for the boats was read, but owing to the lack of funds the matter was postponed until a later date. The committee expressed gratitude to the Foxton Harbour Board for granting the use of a shed in which to keep the boats. A v.oto of thanks was accorded Mr I). Brooks for instructive lessons given to the Scouts. Miss U. Barrat has consented to become an assistant cub-master.
