The accounts of the Metropolitan Police Fund, which have just been issued as a White Paper, si ow the cost of the force tor ■ the year ended March 31 was £9,440,246. In addition to the commissioner deputycommissioner and four assistant commissioners, the strength of the or( ; e r n January 1 was: Six deputy assis - a n t-com m iss ioner s, 10 chief constables 35 superintendents, 741 inspectors, 54 junior inspectors, 2688 sergeants, and 15,239 constables. _• Women police strength was: One superintendent, thr %' inspectors, sergeants, and 00 constables*
