DROWNED IN CREEK
ACCIDENT TO BABY. FALL FROM BRIDGE. Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, June 4. Mary Drake, aged 18 months, a daughter of Mr and Mrs G. EDrake, Titoki, was drowned in a creek .this morning. The child followed a sister to the road on the way to school, and, apparently unknown to the elder girl, feJi oft a small wooden bridge across the creek. Fifteen minutes later the mother saw the child Boating on the surface of the creek. Artificial respiration, including the old Maori method of holding the child in smoke, failed. An inquest was opened later and adjourned.
