EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS.
THAMES AND WAIHI SHAKEN. Per Press Association. WAIHI, June 3. A sharp earthquake occurred at 11.35 this -morning, lasting about six seconds. Buildings shook and creaked ominously. The shake was probably the most severe yet felt. « A sharp earthquake was also felt throughout the Thames district at 11.30 a.m. Goods in provision shops were thrown from the shelves, clocks were stopped and light globes swayed for several minutes. The water in the wide drains on the Hauraki Plains swished lor some time.
A further slight shock was felt at 12.15 p.m.
