BEACONSFIELD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) BEACONSFIELD, June 4. This week the last game of the first round was played in the Country Gribbage Association series with the following results: —Beaconsfield 28 v. Cheltenham 22, Dunolly 29 v. Kimbolton 21, Stanway 27 v, Kiwitca 23, Waituna a bye. The following are the points up to the end of the round:—Waituna. 10; Dunolly, 7; Beaconsfield, 6; Kimbolton, 6; Stanway, 6; Kiwitca, 5; Cheltenham. 2. In the game Beaconsfield against Cheltenham, at tho end of the first half Cheltenham led by 13 to 12; Beaconsfield in the second half collected 16 games to 9. Mr J. Corkill, captain of the Cheltenham team, thanked Beaconsfield for tlioir hospitality. Mr It. Stuart replied. Mr and Mrs D. C. Old are on a fortnight’s motor tour of the north. Miss Lodge arrived from Blenheim to take up her duties again on Monday. The Golf Club hold a bridge evening which wds fairly well patronised. The prizewinners were Mrs D. C. Old and Mr G. Coggin. Messrs E. Buchanan and G. Coggin leave to-day on a three week A holiday in Sydney. • . . At the School Committee’s monthly meeting those present wore Messrs D. Old (chairman), C. M. Richardson (secretary), S. Small, C. E. Corpc and J. Stewart. The committee decided to tako over the Public Library, which has boon cared for by Mrs D. P. "Buchanan for over 15 years: Mr J. Stewart offered to act as librarian.
